Sip, a unique coffeehouse near Old Town Scottsdale, serves craft beer, in addition to specialty coffee. The space is very inviting: a great place to relax outside of the desert heat for a bit.
Coffee beans at Sip are from local roaster Cartel. Cartel specializes in single origin coffee, and the coffee is deliciously strong, yet never bitter. We tried the medium roast drip coffee and an Americano, both of which were delicious. Besides traditional espresso, other brewing methods include French Press, Chemex, and Aeropress. Cold Brew is becoming more of a popular choice today.
Non coffee drinkers can enjoy a cup of hot tea: I recommend the prickly pear!
In addition to coffee, Sip offers 19 rotating craft beers and over 100 bottles. A small locally sourced food menu includes a limited number of breakfast sandwiches, paninis, salads, and snacks. Bagels, smoothies, overnight oats, and a mixed berry yogurt parfait are amongst the options. For lunch, you can enjoy a quesadilla, grilled cheese, or a turkey panini.
Baristas are very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs.
The setting at Sip is relaxed, with both a comfy indoor seating area with lots of relaxing sofas and chairs, and a shady outdoor garden patio. It's busy all the time with a diverse range of people. You may see people working on the laptop, studying, socializing, playing board games, and so on. They offer a number of fun events including TV trivia nights (check with the website for upcoming dates).
Sip is a great place to enjoy a relaxed coffee experience in Scottsdale. The setting is brighter, more relaxed, and more upbeat than an impersonal chain. Sip is one of those laid-back coffeehouses where you can hang out or get some work done for as long as you like without feeling rushed.
