Vegetable platter at Public House in Chattanooga

Review Details

Public House is a Southern restaurant which focuses on locally sourced seasonal fare. If you are visiting downtown Chattanooga, this is one of your best bets for an overall top notch dining experience.

Food

If you are looking to keep it local, then Public House is a great choice. They focus on sourcing seasonal ingredients from local farmers and providers. Everything is fresh and delicious and made in house.

Appetizers include enticing Southern fare such as Pimento cheese with grilled sourdough and fried pickles and Pecan smoked trout dip.

The lunch entree choices are a bit limited, however, there should be something to please everyone in your party. A few options include Fried Chicken, Sautéed Carolina Trout, and Grilled Faroe Island Salmon. Each entrée comes with 2 sides.

Vegetarians do not need to feel left out as they offer a wonderful Veggie Platter where you can choose 3 sides for ten bucks. It's a fantastic deal especially if you pick filling sides. The Squash casserole and Macaroni and cheese are both delicious.

Note: a separate gluten-free menu is available.

Service

Service is fantastic here. The waiters are very attentive and the presentation is great. Despite the crowded setting, the service was fantastic.

Atmosphere

The ambiance is cozy and upscale casual. This is the perfect place for weekend brunch or a laid-back lunch date. The brick walls and wood floors give the restaurant a charming historic touch. Also, there is a nice patio to enjoy during the milder months.

Final Words

Stop by the Public House for a delicious lunch before exploring downtown Chattanooga, or visiting nearby attractions like Lookout Mountain. The quaint ambiance, delicious local food offerings, and fantastic service easily put this local favorite on the list of best downtown restaurants.
