If you are seeking a great sports fun, where you can enjoy comfort food, tasty appetizers, catch a game, and enjoy great beer, than Pack's Tavern should be on your Asheville bucket list. With over 30 beers on tap, so many tasty appetizers and pub style foods, and several TVs including a 110 foot HD projection screen, Pack's is definitely the premier choice come game day.
This local pub offers your typical sports pub fare plus a few unique regional specialties. First off, the pizza here is pretty great which isn't standard at most pubs. Standard pub fare like wings, cheesy bread, pretzels and cheese, nachos, and burgers can all be enjoyed.
If you are up for trying something new, the Elote (Mexican corn) dip served with tortilla chips is pretty awesome. Other good picks include Fish and Chips, Lobster Mac and Cheese, and a Wild Mushroom calzone.
In addition to over 30 beers on tap and various bottles, they also offer 4 different flight options, plus Urban Orchard Cider. The best thing about Pack's is that the menu offers lots of choices for everyone including several gluten-friendly beers.
Surprisingly, a great place for vegetarians. As a vegetarian for over 30 years, I had absolutely no problem finding anything. Also a fair number of gluten-free choices. I love how they mark dietary friendly items on the menu.
Service here is great, a bit friendlier than most downtown establishments, which is definitely a nice change of pace.
The dining space is very large compared to most restaurants downtown. The original brick walls and super high ceilings (17 ft) add that charming historic touch. Amenities include a patio, a huge bar, and numerous flat screen TVs. The vibe is trendy and casual, perfect for a laid-back, lazy afternoon watching a sporting event.
Stop by Pack's for a few beers and appetizers while catching a game. The food is surprisingly good for a bar and the ambiance is perfect for NFL Sunday. With a 110 foot HD projection screen, there is no better choice in the city to watch a major sporting event. After your meal, you can conveniently walk to many other shops and attractions in downtown Asheville.
