Il Forno is a fantastic local Italian restaurant in Lakeland, located about 40 minutes from Tampa and an hour from Orlando. Dining at this local establishment is a fresh change of pace from frequenting the familiar chains surrounding the area. Treat yourself to a delicious dinner at this local favorite. It's a great choice before or after exploring the beautiful trails at Circle B Bar Reserve, one of my recommended daytrips from Orlando.
Il Forno features a tempting menu of Italian specialties. The menu includes traditional favorites, such as: Lasagna, Baked Ziti, Chicken Marsala, Ravioli, Fettuccini Alfredo, Stromboli, Calzones, and various pasta dishes.
The pizza is absolutely delicious! A number of specialty pizza combinations are available, or you can choose to make your own. Those with gluten allergies or intolerances will be happy to know that a gluten-free crust is available. Note: The gluten-free crust is only available in a 10 inch size.
You will find all the usuals like Fettuccine Alfredo, Manicotti, Baked Ziti, Cheese Ravioli, Lasagna, and more. Lunch size portions available at a reduced cost. Gluten-free pasta noodles are also available. It is always nice to find Italian restaurants which offer gluten-free options, so everyone has a chance to enjoy a meal out.
The pasta was cooked perfectly: not too hard or soft. Also, the gluten-free noodles were not mushy like most varieties you find in the store. The marinara was simple, yet delicious. Not overly tart or spicy: the perfect flavor.
Service was exceptional: very friendly and fast. The manager stopped by to make sure we enjoyed our meals. I definitely felt like the staff actually cared about your experience.
The dining room is quite small, however, the ambiance is quite cozy. Blackout shades would have made the setting a bit more upscale and romantic; however, this restaurant features a nice casual dining setting. The vibe is great for a family dinner or casual date night.
Il Forno is the place to stop for Italian food in Lakeland. The food was delicious and the setting nice and casual and relaxed. This is a good dining choice before or after enjoying any area activities like Circle B Bar Reserve or Silver Moon Drive in.
