If you are looking for decent Irish fare and a cozy pub ambiance, Delaney's is the place to go in Spartanburg. Because the pub is located downtown, there are plenty of shops and activities to explore before or after your visit.
Delaney's serves authentic Irish fare in the heart of downtown Spartanburg. You will find all the traditional Irish faves like Fish and Chips, Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Mash, and Corned Beef and Cabbage. Delaney's is most famous for their "World Famous Irish Whiskey Steak," which is also available as a sandwich. As a vegetarian, this does not sound at all appealing to me, but it seems pretty popular with the locals.
Start with a few apps. There are plenty of tempting choices here including: fried pickles and mushrooms, cheese sticks, spinach dip, cheese fries, and nachos.
Asides from hearty Irish traditionals, Delaney's serves a delicious lineup of sandwiches, plus a sizeable selection of healthy fare including various salads and a delicious veggie pita. If you are new to the area, the Fish and Chips is a good place to start. The Guinness Stew served with soda bread is another favorite of regulars. The spinach artichoke dip is pretty delicious as well.
On weekends, you can look forward to an interesting brunch menu which includes hefty entrees such as a Traditional Irish Breakfast plate, Biscuits & Gravy, and Bangers and Eggs.
The Hangover Pie is a hearty selection which includes scrambled eggs, bacons, biscuits, bangers, and potatoes, smothered in a homemade gravy with melted cheese. For those craving something a bit sweeter, the Peanut butter and banana stuffed French Toast is sure to please.
For anyone seeking something a bit healthier, this is not the place to visit! Come with a hearty appetite and don't be afraid to splurge a bit.
Update: Brunch is no longer served. Also, they have expanded their menu. Check it out for more details.
Service was friendly and efficient.
The decor here is nice and rustic with an attractive dark woodsy look. I love dark pubs where you can escape the harsh sunlight for a bit and just relax and enjoy the homey setting. They have a full bar and plenty of seating. The layout is spacious and attractive. Delaney's is a great place to meet up with friends over a few drinks and appetizers, or simply enjoy a full meal in a laid-back, cozy setting.
Delaney's is a good choice for anyone craving comfort Irish food. If you happen to be seeking a nice local establishment in downtown Spartanburg, Delaney's is one of the few authentic choices. If you are willing to splurge on calories a bit, Delaney's offers an abundance of comfort style appetizers and entrees.
