Review Details

Blanco is a contemporary Mexican chain with numerous Arizona locations including one at the upscale La Encantada shopping mall. While far from the best Mexican fare in the area, the menu is creative and the views are amongst the best in the area. The highlight here is the beautiful outdoor dining patio, great for the milder spring and fall season.

Food

Blanco is a modern upscale chain serving a variety of creative Southwestern style dishes. Enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas and tacos can all be enjoyed here. They also serve Sangria and a large selection of specialty margaritas. Diverse taco selections include everything from Baja Chicken, to Grilled Avocado, to Chipotle shrimp. There are lots of tasty appetizers to indulge in as well including the very popular Cheese Crisp, which is basically a tortilla covered in cheese and broiled to crisp (otherwise known as a Mexican pizza).

Another great appetizer is the Mexican street corn dish, a savory mixture of corn, cotija cheese, and cilantro.

We enjoyed the Baja Chicken burrito and Fried Avocado tacos. Tacos are served alongside beans and rice, of which are just mediocre compared to the tacos. The food is decent, but not spectacular, and definitely not authentic style Mexican food.

Pricing isn't too bad for the serving size (3 tacos) and most entrees range from 12 to 16 bucks.

Update: Pricing now ranges from $15-22 for 2 tacos. A bit overpriced, but I guess you are paying for the nice view and seating area.

Service

Service was friendly, although the pacing of the meal was not great. Appetizers were brought out after the entrees.

Atmosphere

The interior of Blanco is clean, modern, and trendy. The spacious outdoor patio offers a nice overlook of the city, and is especially scenic at night.

Final Words

Blanco is a decent choice if you happen to be strolling around the mall. For those craving tacos and/or a great view, Blanco should please. While the food is just ok at best, the setting is very nice, the drink menu is creative, and the ambiance fun and lively.
