5 Points offers a small, seasonally changing menu of specialty entrees, made with locally sourced ingredients. This restaurant is one of the few in this area which focuses on using local ingredients, thus making it a good choice for health conscious diners. If you are seeking a quick casual breakfast joint with a healthy vibe, 5 Points is probably one of my most recommended restaurants downtown.
5 Points offers a small breakfast and lunch menu, along with a full espresso menu, a daily pastry selection, local teas, juiced drinks, and kombucha. 5 Points partners with local companies and you also have the option of substituting free range eggs (although the extra fee is a bit ridiculous). At the on-site market, you can purchase all sorts of local goods.
The breakfast menu is pretty basic asides from a nice little create-your-own menu where you can mix and match all sorts of sides. I highly recommend the potato pancakes!
One of the highlights on the menu is the giant pancake, an enormous homemade pancake served with clarified butter and real maple syrup. If you are coming from a hike or bike ride, it will definitely fill you up pretty nicely. In fact, it's probably big enough for 2.
The menu is pretty limited - hopefully they will spice it up in the future with a few more creative selections.
Update: As of 2025, the potato pancakes are missing on the menu. The menu changes frequently. Recent selections have included: Kale Caesar Salad, Huevos Rancheros, Smoked Beet sandwich, Grit, and Eggs, and Green Curry Shrimp.
Service was just so-so, not very friendly or attentive. Hopefully, we just happened to catch someone on a bad day. The restaurant was pretty busy on a weekend morning, however, that really is no excuse for poor service.
The setting at 5 Points is casual and hip, modern and frequented by a young crowd. The noise level is a bit too loud as the tables are crammed a bit too close. I imagine the ambiance would be a bit quieter and less stressful on a less busy weekday.
5 Points is a decent casual & affordable breakfast choice if you find yourself in downtown Tucson for the morning. I recommend checking it out after a bike ride along the beautiful nearby Rillito River Path.
