A Weekend Brunch at “One of the World’s Best Restaurants”

This morning we had an opportunity to try out Providence’s highest regarded Nick’s on Broadway restaurant for brunch. Having won numerous awards including “One of the World’s Best Restaurants” by Fodors International and “One of the Best Places for Breakfast in America” by Esquire Magazine, we were more than eager to test out the food.

A trendy & modern experience

The popularity of the restaurant was evidenced by the incredibly long wait (45 minutes to get a seat at 10:00am on Saturday). The crowd was hip and young. The decor was modern and appealing. The brick walls, open kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows gave off a busy, trendy vibe. They did a great job with the tiny amount of space available.

Perfect for health conscious diners

Brunch is the best time to visit Nick’s. They also serve dinner, although you will find pricing is more affordable during breakfast hours. Entrees range from traditional favorites like Buttermilk Pancakes and Yogurt Parfait, to specialties like Black Beans and Eggs and a Honey Chili Chicken Biscuit. Vegetarian selections include fresh salads, homemade soups, and a Mushroom Grilled Cheese sandwich.

The breakfast was excellent. The use of local produce and dairy is a big plus, especially for the health conscious. Being able to substitute healthier options like egg whites and multi grain toast was another advantage. Mike enjoyed a breakfast burrito with eggs cheese, turkey and onion. My mushroom &  broccoli frittata was perfect. Note that entree choices may vary throughout the year.

Nick’s on Broadway is your best bet for a healthy, delicious breakfast/brunch dining experience in Providence. Plan your visit on a weekday or near opening time on weekends to decrease your wait time. And, after your meal, be sure to check out more great attractions in Providence.
