This morning we had an opportunity to try out Providence’s highest regarded Nick’s on Broadway restaurant. Having won numerous awards including “One of the World’s Best Restaurants” by Fodors International and “One of the Best Places for Breakfast in America” by Esquire Magazine, we were more than eager to test it out.
The popularity of the restaurant was evidenced by the incredibly long wait (45 minutes to get a seat at 10:00am on Saturday). The crowd was hip and young. The decor was modern and appealing. The brick walls, open kitchen, and floor to ceiling windows gave off a busy, trendy vibe. They did a great job with the tiny amount of space available.
The breakfast was excellent. The use of local produce and dairy is a big plus, especially for the health conscious. Being able to substitute healthier options like egg whites and multi grain toast was another advantage. Mike highly recommends the breakfast burrito with egg, cheese, turkey and onion. My mushroom & broccoli frittata was perfect.
