Newport Rhode Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade

2013 Newport, RI St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Bag Pipers

Pirates

The Newport Rhode Island St. Pat’s Day Parade was much more festive and entertaining than the Worcester area parade. Newport is also located along the coast which is a bonus. The parade wasn’t too far away from the famous Newport Mansions. It seems that more people in this area got into the Irish spirit by getting all decked out in green. Watching the Bag Pipers is always my favorite part of an Irish parade. I also love watching Irish Step Dancing – although I haven’t had the chance to catch any this year. What is your favorite thing about St. Patrick’s Day? What fun activities do you do around this time of year?

This is one of the events I always enjoy reading about and watching in TV. Hopefully, I get to watch this in person, too.

I start the day off meeting with my family and heading to Mass. After Mass we meet with some friends and head to the parade. Love going to the parade, lots of fun. After the parade we head for a late breakfast. After breakfast I’ll meet up with some friends and more family (I am Irish), go to the pub for a pint or two. Then we’ll all head back to my place and have a big St. Patrick’s day party. God, family, others. It’s what I was taught, and to be honest, it’s a lot of fun! Happy St. Paddy’s day to you.

This Rhode Island Parade looks a lot more cooler than mine. I live in a really small town. These youtube videos were great by the way. Thanks for the uploads.

Glad to see people still taking part in events like these in 2013

Sounds like an amazing time and the video is great. I didn’t do anything for St. Patrick’s day this year. The people in my area are more of German descent so St. Patty’s isn’t a big deal. There’s always big Oktoberfest celebrations though.

  1. I haven’t been to the downtown parade in years; I would love to head back sometime. The Chicago Southside Irish parade is always a good time though! Everyone at the Southside parade really gets into the spirit and there are plenty of Irish pubs lining Western Ave. after the parade.

I have actually never been to a St. Patty’s Day parade!

I was reading about the one in Chicago earlier, though, and I would love to check that one out some time. They dye the river bright green! Have you seen it? I think it’d be crazy with all of the people there, but if you’re going to watch the dying process, you might as well watch the parade, too.
