10 Fantastic Fall Foliage Destinations
Blue Hills Reservation
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Why It’s Great: Blue Hills is one of the largest city parks in the country (offering endless year-round recreation). Conveniently, it is located just 10 miles south of Boston.
Beautiful foliage and tons of hiking trails of varying difficulty make Blue Hills a perfect fall destination. Blue Hills is a massive area with over 7000 acres and 125 miles of trails. I recommend hiking the Skyline Trail, where you will enjoy great views of the city and beautiful views of nature no matter when you visit. Fall is the best time to hike as the colors are just gorgeous, especially from the overlook.
Also, on selected weekends in October, fall foliage chairlift rides are offered for only 2 bucks. As most areas charge a fortune for these, this really is a steal. Although it’s a year-round natural escape for city residents, nothing really compares with a fall visit to Blue Hills.
