One of Universal's most affordable, family-friendly, and convenient lodging choices is Cabana Bay Beach resort. This property offers some of the most affordable rates near the parks. Early theme park admission, several pools and a lazy river, numerous on-site dining options, and a free shuttle to the parks are just a few of the wonderful amenities.
Despite the constant traffic, this property is well maintained and clean. I was pleasantly surprised with the upkeep and attention to detail. The property is very colorful and fun which adds to the vacation ambiance. I love the retro 50's style vibe: it's a fun throwback to the past. This place should be a hit with families and anyone else looking for something cheap, that doesn't feel cheap.
The best part about staying here is the abundance of amenities. First off, you will receive hour early admission to the theme parks. This is a huge deal especially during the busy summer months. In my opinion, this alone makes booking a room here worthwhile. The other big perk is the free shuttle service (about a 15 min rides, runs every 10 min or so) to the parks and citywalk. Note you can also enjoy the walking path which takes about 20 min. Another huge benefit as car rentals are costly, and assuming you take a Lyft from the airport, you don't need to rent a car. My next favorite amenity are the awesome pools. One pool has a small waterslide and the other has the nicest shady lazy river. There are lots of gorgeous palms and tropical palm trees which really gives you that vacation vibe. The pool area is so nice that I skipped the theme parks one day just to enjoy some fun-in-the-sun. Also, there is a nice poolside bar. Other amenities include: on-site Starbucks, a small arcade, a cafeteria style dining area, and a bowling alley.
Rooms are more affordable than other Universal properties and can range from around $100-300 per night. Expect higher rates during busy summer travel, holiday periods, and spring break. Don't forget that Florida resident can receive special discounted rates.
The room is fun with colorful paintings and furnishings. We enjoyed a nice view of the volcano at Universal's Volcano Bay water park from the window. You can upgrade to a pool room view. Family suites which sleep up to 6 also available (2 beds and pullout, plus a bathroom that can fit 3).
I love staying at Cabana Bay when I am seeking a laid-back and convenient resort near the parks. This is even more so the case when I am visiting just the Universal parks, not Disney. Because of the shuttle, I do not need to rent a car! For such low rates, you really cannot go wrong. The pools and lazy river are fantastic, I love that there is a Starbucks on-site, and I love the shuttle and early admission.
