Review Details

The Living Room on Main is a wonderful eclectic restaurant in downtown Dunedin, Florida. This unique restaurant features a diverse menu of international inspired cuisine from around the world. The prime location in beautiful downtown Dunedin makes it a perfect place to stop for a lunch date before a day of shopping or exploring nearby parks and beaches.

Food

The Living Room offers a lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch menu. A few recent selections offered on the brunch menu include Breakfast Nachos, Red Velvet Pancakes, Lobster Sardou, and Blue Crab Benedict. Recent highlights from the lunch and dinner menus included a tasty Quinoa Salad, Black and Blue Nachos, Chicken Montrachet, Main Street Lobster Roll, Bayou Shrimp, and Miso & Ginger Grilled Salmon Tacos. Apps include: Whipped Ricotta cheese (housemade and served with garlic crostini), Ginger Cashew Calamari, and Mushroom Flatbread.

The dinner menu is served tapas style, meaning each dish is brought out when it is ready, and also consists of a serving big enough to be shared amongst your party.

Many items on the menu are gluten-free, just ask your server. In addition, several of the menu items can be made vegan by omitting the dairy.

We ordered a Quinoa Salad and Black and Blue Nachos. Both dishes were filling, but not too heavy. The Quinoa salad included an assortment of fresh veggies like green onions, red peppers, roasted corn, and mixed greens. Avocado, blue corn strips, tomatoes, queso fresco were mixed in with a tasty cilantro lime vinaigrette dressing. This fresh, healthy salad is the perfect choice for those following a gluten-free and/or vegan diet (just omit the cheese).

The Black and Blue Nachos were also a standout dish consisting of blue corn chips piled high with blackened chicken, applewood bacon, shallots, pico de gallo, roasted corn, and a mixture of 3 cheeses (Gorgonzola, Pepper Jack & Provolone). We opted to make the dish a bit healthier and substituted avocado for the cheeses and black olives for the bacon. This was an excellent choice: the dish was wonderful! I highly recommend this combination for a real treat!

Service

Service is fantastic, very professional and accommodating. The waiter had no problem whatsoever making a few minor substitutions. He promptly checked a few questionable allergens with the chef. We were very impressed with the attentive, friendly service.

Atmosphere

The dining room is simple and elegant. The setting is dim and romantic, making it the perfect place for a date. There is also a nice outdoor seating area for those cool fall and winter nights. Unfortunately, we always time our visit when it is much too hot to consider al fresco dining.

Final Words

The Living Room on Main is a classy restaurant which offers excellent service and delicious food. Try it out on your next visit to Dunedin- you will not be dissapointed! As a bonus, this restaurant is walkable to many boutique shops, local coffeehouses, art galleries, and the wonderful Beatles museum. Unfortunately, a new 20% service charge is added to every bill, so just a heads up in case this bothers you.
