Tandul
Tandul is an authentic Indian restaurant located in the historic Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland. It's one of the best lunch choices after exploring nearby attractions like A Christmas Story House and Museum.
Food
Unfortunately, Tandul does not offer a lunch buffet which is usually a great way to sample a range of Indian entrees and appetizers at a low price. Fortunately, the food is pretty great, although a bit on the pricier side.
You will find all the standard Indian fare here with veg and non veg appetizers, entrees, and Tandoori specialities. The highlight here is the wide selection of breads available, from traditional Naan, to Chilly and Garlic Cheese Naan, to Aloo Paratha (Whole wheat bread stuffed with seasoned potato and cilantro baked in a clay oven).
I recommend the Garlic Naan, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Vegetable Korma - all delicious, spiced to your preferred level, and bursting with flavor.
Service
Service is attentive and professional. Entrees came out surprisingly quick, although the restaurant was surprisingly slow on a Saturday afternoon.
Atmosphere
The setting is very nice, clean with simple, yet attractive decor. Playing Bollywood videos on the bar TV is an interesting touch.
Final Remarks
Tandul is the first and only Indian restaurant in the Tremont area. It's a great lunch stop. And, as a bonus, you are within walking distance of a number of attractions, breweries, and local coffeehouses.
