Cafe io is one of your best casual dining choices in Mt. Lebanon. If you are seeking a simple place to enjoy American comfort food, Cafe io is a wonderful choice. They serve the best grilled cheese and soups in town.

Cafe io specializes in delicious unique grilled cheese sandwiches and homemade soups. The menu also includes a number of sandwiches, salads, burgers, BLTs, and a variety of hearty entrees including Chicken Marsala, Shrimp and Sea Scallop Linguini, and Grilled Salmon.
The way to go here is a tasty grilled cheese sandwich and soup. The Spicy Veg Head features a delicious mix of spinach, tomato, caramelized onion, pickles, jalapenos, and gouda and cheddar cheese. It's quite spicy, so great when you want to warm up on a cold winter's day. Each sandwich is served with soup or fries - I recommend the tomato basil or French mushroom soup - both delicious!
Portions are a decent size for the price. You will not leave hungry!

Service is pretty standard - attentive, yet not intrusive. It's usually easy to get a seat right away outside of holiday periods.
Atmosphere
The setting is very casual with not much in the way of decor. The tables are a bit cramped together, and thus, it can get a bit stuffy and noisy on busy weekend afternoons. Despite the bland ambiance, the food and service are both great.
