Boulder Coffee Cafe was one of several local coffee shops that we tested out on our visit to Pagosa Springs. Despite the fresh looking storefront, we were not satisfied with our drinks whatsoever. The Americano was burnt tasting and lacking any flavor: one of the poorest drinks I've had out in a while.
Boulder Coffee Cafe serves a light food menu and offers a full espresso bar. Burritos, waffles, muffins, quiche, and various pastries are some of the items you can choose amongst for breakfast. A build your own sandwich selection and homemade soups are some of the lunch highlights. Although we did not try any food, I can say that the coffee was dissatisfying.
Our coffee drinks were really bad, so bad in fact that we had to toss them both away. I haven't had to do this in a while, and it does not make me happy wasting money! That is how bad the coffee tasted. The Americano was burnt with absolutely no flavor, while the drip coffees we sampled were very watered down.
Service was standard, not friendly, nor unfriendly. Drinks came out in no time despite the busy afternoon.
Boulder Coffee Cafe has a nice setting with comfortable couches and board games and books to enjoy during your visit. It would be a great place to relax with a hot espresso drink, that is, if they improve the quality of their drinks! Perhaps, they should hire and train new baristas! And maybe invest in a higher quality espresso machine.
Visiting Boulder Coffee Cafe was not a pleasant experience. Wasting 5 bucks on 2 coffee drinks, which were supposed to be prepared by a professional, only to throw them out is just not right. For the price you pay for a coffee out, you would think you would at the very least get a delicious drink in return!
