Fightingtown Tavern is the hotspot in Blue Ridge for watching any type of sporting event, especially college and pro football games due to a winning combination of great bar food, a nice sporty ambiance, and a beautiful outdoor patio.

This great sports bar/restaurant is conveniently located on Main Street, alongside many other great restaurants, shops, and attractions.

Great food (including customizable allergy friendly options), a nice sporty setting, and plenty of TVs to watch the game, make Fightingtown an easy choice for game night.

Anyone can enjoy this tavern, unlike most sports bars which do not cater to specific dietary requests. Fightingtown is unique in that they use as much local produce as possible, no microwaves or freezers, and can customize a majority of their dishes since each dish is made fresh in the kitchen. They also use eco friendly cleaning products and to-go containers, which is highly unusual for the pub industry.

Watching the game is even more enjoyable when you have a nice outdoor patio overlooking Main Street, a cool fall breeze, great eclectic bar food, and a sporty, yet classy atmosphere.

Food

A variety of sandwiches, meat and fish based plates, and burgers comprise the majority of the menu (Fish and Chips, Twisted Tacos, and Georgia's Pride - a signature burger consisting of melted goat cheese and bourbon poached grilled Mercier's Apples are a few highlights in this category). You will also find a few southern specialities including a Boiled Peanut Hummus appetizer.

Vegetarians can choose one of several entrée sized salads. The kitchen has no problem making a few simple substitutions with no extra charge.

I was easily able to replace the meat and cheese on my garden salad with sautéed mushrooms and pico de gallo. They weren't stingy either - the vegetable were piled high. Add in some romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a tasty olive oil/balsamic vinaigrette dressing from local Blue Ridge Olive Oil company (located downstairs from the tavern), and you really have a great tasting salad even carnivores will appreciate.

We were also able to order a specialty grilled chicken sandwich, as opposed to the traditional burger based option, even though it wasn't technically on the menu. Grilled chicken topped with onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and lettuce rounded out a perfect burger alternative.

Fightingtown Tavern has done a great job of labeling gluten-free options on their menu. This takes out the hassle of questioning the waiter on every single ingredient. In addition to listed gluten-free options, many of the selections are customizable to make them gluten-free.

It's one of the few restaurants I have seen that offers a sizable number of gluten-free appetizers. The homemade chips and spicy salsa and the seasoned fries were both excellent -well worth the small price tag. They also offer GF chicken wings available with various spicy sauces.

Service

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Although our 2 appetizers were forgotten, she quickly apologized and brought them out hot and fresh. She verified salad dressing ingredients with the chef to ensure that none of our requested allergens were in the dish and even offered a few substitutions for the meat and cheese.

Atmosphere

You have your choice of dining inside or outside. Inside is great for game time as you will find a huge 70 inch flat screen TV, several shuffleboard tables, and dart boards, along with a choice amongst 10 Georgia based beers on tap. Over 20 bottled beers, a craft whiskey/bourbon selection, and specialty cocktails are also available. Great music and a casual, yet clean environment add to the perfect game day setting.

The outdoor patio is a great option for those who want to enjoy the cooler Northern Georgia fall weather, along with people watching along Main Street. Two flat screen TVs are available for casual game watching. Also, heat lamps and lights make a nighttime visit more enjoyable.

The prime location on the 2nd floor gives you a great overview of the entire downtown area, enabling you to take in all the action from above.
