Although gluten-free bakery items are ridiculously overpriced, sometimes it is nice to pick up a treat without having to spend all the time baking and cleaning up the mess afterwards. In terms of gluten-free options in the area, Stacy's Gluten Free Goodies is one of the few local choices for those with sweet cravings.
The best aspect of Stacy's Gluten Free Bakery is that the treats are not just gluten-free, they are also dairy, egg, soy, and nut free! This is near impossible to find, and even more impossible to do so without compromising the flavor.
As you walk into the bakery, you will see a delicious spread of tempting cookies, muffins, cupcakes, and other appetizing desserts. Most bakeries only offer a few selections, while Stacy's on the other hand, offers a wide range of desserts all staring you in the face as soon as you walk in. When you realize they are all allergy free, the treats become even more tantalizing.
Everything is a bit marked up, as you would expect in any specialty store. As gluten-free baking involves more research, trial and error, and pricier ingredients, I didn't mind shelling out $6 for a few cookies.
I waited to check out this bakery until the fall season, specifically for the pumpkin flavored treats. The pumpkin chocolate chip cookies were amazing. It's hard to believe that they were both gluten and dairy free! Very moist and soft with a perfect pumpkin flavor. I can't wait to try out the other pumpkin treats, especially the cupcakes!
Cookie flavors include selections such as: no peanut butter, chocolate chip, and snickerdoodle. Cupcakes include flavors such as: cocoa, vanilla, and raspberry.
Premium cupcake flavors such as pumpkin spice and espresso are available by pre-order. Pumpkin, strawberry, and banana are a few of the available muffin selections. It's hard to imagine a muffin without eggs and milk! They looked great - can't wait to try one out!
For those trying to avoid excess sugar, there is a selection of sugar free goodies available. A variety of muffins including pumpkin, blueberry, gingerbread, and carrot are available.
Sandwich bread, dinner rolls, and Cinnamon rolls are also available. In the freezer section, you will find: pizza crusts, ice cream sandwiches, donuts, pumpkin pie, and brownies.
Stacy's also offers specialty birthday and special occassion cakes. You are able to customize your cake according to your own design preference and cake flavor(chocolate, vanilla, carrot cake, and red velvet are available). This is a great birthday surprise idea for anyone with allergies who is tired of the limited selection.
Single layer cakes start at $27, while double layer start at $44. Chocolate chip cookie cakes are available starting at $23. As you can see they are a bit pricy, however, if you would like to spend more time celebrating rather than baking, it can be a real time saver, especially when you can't just run to the grocery shop and pick up an allergy free cake.
The staff didn't really say much, so I can't really comment much about the service. It was 5 minutes prior to closing, although we didn't feel rushed.
There is a cute, bright sitting area with a few tables if you choose to eat your treats on site.
Overall, Stacy's Gluten Free Goodies is a great choice for anyone with allergies who doesn't know how or simply does not want to bake. Even for those who enjoy baking, it is nice to have a safe treat everyone once in a while!
