Il Forno is a fantastic local Italian restaurant in Lakeland, located about 40 minutes from Tampa and an hour from Orlando. Dining at this local establishment is a fresh change of pace from frequenting the familiar chains surrounding the area. Treat yourself to a delicious dinner at this local favorite.
Food
Il Forno features a tempting menu of Italian specialties. The menu includes traditional favorites, such as: Lasagna, Baked Ziti, Chicken Marsala, Ravioli, Fettuccini Alfredo, Stromboli, Calzones, and various pasta dishes.
The pizza is absolutely delicious! A number of specialty pizza combinations are available, or you can choose to make your own. Those with gluten allergies or intolerances will be happy to know that a gluten-free crust is available. Note: The gluten-free crust is only available in a 10 inch size.
Gluten-free pasta noodles are also available. It is always nice to find Italian restaurants which offer gluten-free options, so everyone has a chance to enjoy a meal out.
The pasta was cooked perfectly: not too hard or soft. Also, the gluten-free noodles were not mushy like most varieties you find in the store. The marinara was simple, yet delicious. Not overly tart or spicy: the perfect flavor.
Service
Service was exceptional: very friendly and fast. The manager stopped by to make sure we enjoyed our meals. I definitely felt like the staff actually cared about your experience.
Atmosphere
The dining room is quite small, however, the ambiance is quite cozy. Blackout shades would have made the setting a bit more upscale and romantic; however, this restaurant features a nice casual dining setting. The vibe is great for a family dinner or casual date night.
