The Italian Oven is a great non-chain Italian restaurant located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, home to Central Michigan University. This was my favorite restaurant during my college years. I have been back several times over the years and the food and service have always been wonderful.
The menu at The Italian Oven has about anything Italian you could be craving: woodfired & Neopolitan pizzas, homemade soups, calzones, strombolis, and all the typical Italian entrees like Parmesan, Cheese Ravioli, Alfredo, and more!
The pick your own pasta combinations and salad are great. I loved this place because they seemed to carry more vegetarian options than other Italian restaurants. Prices are reasonable considering that each entree comes with bread and soup or salad. Everything I have had here is terrific especially the mushroom ravioli!
Service at The Italian Oven is always outstanding. Even though they hire mostly college students, this makes no difference in the quality of service, as is the case in some other college towns. To date, it is still one of the friendliest restaurants I have visited.
Dinner at The Italian Oven is the perfect dinner date in Mt. Pleasant. It's the perfect choice for an evening out; they even have an adult’s only dining area. The decor here is a fantastic country rustic Italian and I love the small touches like serving drinks in glass mason jars. I love the table covers and how the waiter writes their name upside down on your table. It's definitely a unique dining experience! The Italian Oven puts a lot of effort into the service, ambiance, and general decor of the restaurant and it really shows!
I recommend choosing The Italian Oven when you are in town. It is definitely the best Italian restaurant in town and one of the best that I have personally visited.
