The waitress was not very attentive - she was slow on everything from refilling the drinks to bringing over the check. On the plus side, she was able to prepare me a specially made vegetarian burrito with no extra charges.
The restaurant is conveniently located in the small downtown area with ample parking along the side streets. I was not impressed with the dining room because it very small and clustered and the decor just wasn't there.
Salamandra's is a good stop if you are in Dixon craving Mexican cuisine. It is not the best restaurant in town, but it is the best option if you are looking for Mexican food.
Salamandra's is a Mexican restaurant located in the downtown area of Dixon, Illinois. The restaurant was suggested by a family member who lives in Dixon.
Everyone in our party seems to really enjoy the food. It is a hotspot among Dixon locals. It was not the best Mexican food I have ever had, nor the worst. The chips and salsa which came with 2 different varieties of salsa were addicting. My veggie burrito was better than I expected and came with rice and beans. The size of the burrito was probably the biggest I have ever seen, and I had plenty of leftover for the next day.
Prices were on the high side for a small local Mexican restaurant, especially considering how cheap Mexican food is to make. However, the generous portions made up for the increased cost.
