Update 2023: This restaurant is now closed. While you are in the region, there are a number of great attractions to check out. My favorite is the haunted Lizzie Borden house.

Today, Mike and I decided to try out DiParma Italian Table in Seekonk, Massachusetts. We have passed this restaurant several times. It particularly stands out, being that it is in a large building attached to the Clarion Hotel. There are not many options in the area when it comes to non-chain Italian food, so we decided we might as well stop and take our chances on something new.

I wish we would have kept driving! We both ordered a lunch special – similar to Olive Garden’s unlimited soup, salad, and bread combo. The price was only $8 per person, unfortunately the quality of food was horrible. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce with barely any vegetables.

The soup tasted straight out from a can. The rolls were stale and less appetizing than a package found at a grocery store. Food was very bland. Decor was bland. Service was bland. Most original Italian restaurants are much better than chains in all 3 areas, however, in this case you are better off heading to one of the chains. After dining at DiParma’s Italian Table, you will see that quality really does trump quantity.

My advice: drive the extra 10 minutes to Providence’s Federal Hill area. You will have your choice between dozens of authentic Italian restaurants in the area.
